People Speaking

This is a complete list of the sound files of each section of my book People Speaking published by the Oxford University Press (1977). To numbers of these 53 sound files orthographic texts and, in many cases, phonetic transcriptions have been added, the latter usually along with commentary mainly on phonetic topics. It is planned that more of these additions will be added from time to time.

They were mainly recorded by four professional actors (two male and two female). A few other voices heard include two short unscripted monologues by the author (numbers 30 and 48).

Entries with a * have a transcription; the others contain only a sound file: the transcription may be provided at later date, if as a Blog its number is given.
